Dignified and fulfilling livelihoods for financially excluded youth and women in rural Ghana.
The FILMA program is designed to address a number of interconnected challenges currently faced by young women and youth interested in the Agriculture and Agric-Adjacent Sectors (AAAS). These challenges are particularly prevalent in rural areas and include:
Youth unemployment is particularly grave in rural areas
Limited access to affordable credit and inclusive financial services such as savings, insurance, and pensions
4 million of these young people work in agriculture and adjacent sectors
Lack of access to resources, technical assistance and capacity building, market opportunities and a supportive ecosystem to flourish
The goal is to reach 100,000 young people, aged 15 to 35 across 18 districts in the Volta, Oti, Bono-East, and Northern Regions to attain dignified and fulfilling work, with a focus on providing 80,000 jobs. Of the 100,000 people reached, 70% would be young women, and 5% would be persons with disabilities.
Improve knowledge, skills, and productive capacity of LMAs
